I brush my teeth and use the mouse with my left hand. I am absolutely right-handed but about a year ago I decided to exercise another part of my brain with routine tasks and habits.
It’s interesting because I can see a difference in the way I do things, or at least I feel like I can. I feel like I’m more able to multi-task using both hands. For example, if something were falling off the counter, I would be just as inclined to use my left hand to catch it and succeed as if I used my right hand.
It’s not a big deal, I know, but I’m amazed at how the brain adapts and molds itself around my intentions and practicing. When I first started using the mouse with my left hand… ohhh God. It was a pain just closing a window. The pointer would zigzag everywhere and I would need to focus focus focus just to…. click on a dropdown menu…. hover over a selection… then accidentally jerk the pointer out of it, closing the menu….. then opening it again…. and failing….. countless times. Hahaha.
But now, when I’m at a computer, my left hand starts creeping to find the mouse. It’s not that my right hand is now awkward, but it seems like my brain has embraced it. Good job!! Hahahah. I don’t know why that amuses me. I don’t know why a lot of things amuse me haha.
I guess, I just like the fact that I’m always learning, even small things like this. That my minor choices are impactful, I am still moldable. Hahaa.
Anyway. That’s my fact for today.
